Top 10 Mobile Games
Here’s where you can find our Top 10 Mobile Games. All of the games featured are available at Ringtones-Direct. The Top 10 is compiled from regularly updated sales to give you the best selection of the hottest, best selling games right now!
Skill Ball Bingo retains the number one best selling game crown this week, but speeding into 2nd out of nowhere is the classic racing game Need for Speed Shift, the only game of this genre in our Top Ten, with the others being retro classics or sim type games. Fruit Machine Gold is a new entry at 5, faithfully replicating the gambler that usually resides by the bar at your local.
Monopoly is one place above it at 4, helping us live the dream of spending thousands in the property market in these hard times.
Surprisingly there are no football games in the list this week, perhaps all the activity of the last day of the Transfer Window has quelled the appetite for footie at the moment?

After last years Killers headline set the mantle has been passed onto The Kings Of Leon and Kasabian to be top of the bill on what is usually described as the ‘poppiest’ of all the Summers annual music events.

7 of this weeks chart have artists guesting or featuring on another artist’s tune, such as Rihanna on Eminem’s number 3 Love the Way You Lie and Snoop Dogg on California Gurls by Katy Perry. David Guetta features on Flo Rida’s latest offering Club Can’t Handle Me, continuing his attack on the charts over the last 18 months.

Ring Road Rover
News reaches us this week that the European Commission is worried that the electric or battery powered car, designed to lower the decibel level of the rush hour cacophony is in fact, er, too quiet.
This could mean that each manufacturer will be permitted to provide its own theme or signature tune to it’s car hot off the production line, with regulations simply setting a minimum volume to prevent pedestrians, cyclists and especially blind people from stepping into the path of battery-powered cars.
Now this is all very well and good, but when it’s been suggested by some car designers that the signature tune could be the revolutionary sound of a, wait for it, petrol engine, we think that this idea is a bit of a waste of time to say the least.
This got us thinking – wouldn’t it be great if the manufacturers adopted aircraft sounds or that of a space ship, for instance the Millennium Falcon from Star Wars. But what if YOU could choose your own car theme tune – a real drive-ring tone. Here’s our suggestions of what we would like to hear on the street. Have you got any? Please post your comments in the box below if you have!
- Fleetwood Mac – The Chain (BBC Formula 1 Grand Prix Theme)
- TV Theme – Doctor Who
- TV Theme – Benny Hill
- Movie Theme – 633 Squadron
- TV Advert – We Buy Any Car.Com
- Wolf Whistle
- Dukes Of Hazzard – Dixie Horn
- TV Theme – Knight Rider
- The Wurzels – Combine Harvester
- TV Theme – Magic Roundabout
Incidently faking sounds and even smells is not a new thing -
• An unpleasant odour has been added to natural gas since 300 children died in 1937 after a leak at a Texas school went unnoticed
• Digital cameras make the sound of a shutter closing to reassure users
• Cash machines whirr to convince us that our money is on its way
• Manufacturers use dye to make strawberry ice-cream pink, ketchup red and squash orange

Skill Ball Bingo reclaims its number 1 slot this week, outselling the nearest game 3 times over. Pro Evo Soccer is at number 2, proving that even after the World Cup is now a bit of a distant memory the pull of the game and the impending arrival of the new season cannot dampen the gaming spirit of the ardent football fan.
A surprise entry to the latest Top 10 is at number 5, where Wheel Of Fortune spins it’s way into the best sellers and another game show favourite Deal Or No Deal is at number 9.

Gorilla Thriller
Product: Gorilla Rampage
Developer: Digital Chocolate
Publisher: Digital Chocolate
Format: Mobile
Genre: Adventure, Action
Players: 1
Format: J2ME
File size: 1996Kb
Reviewed on: Nokia N97
Version: Europe
Climb up skyscrapers around the world as you fight off waves of enemies! Play as King Gorilla in up to 36 levels of wacky action! Repel Firemen, Helicopters and more without being captured to rescue kidnapped girls! Earn power ups like Burps, Fire Rocks and more to unleash your full Gorilla Rage! Battle hilarious Bosses in up to 6 cities in this fresh game full of hard to put down fun!
Looking after a damsel in distress is what big gorillas do, right? Well here’s no exception as you chuck pieces of masonry at the bods below as they try and grab your girl. Marching backwards and forward across balconies whilst throwing bricks, if you escape the clutches of the pursuers long enough, you get to make your getaway with your girl (who acts as a timer) in tow.
As this latest Digital Chocolate release is all about one button gameplay, the premise is easy at first – press the button, throw the rock – however your primate pivots at this point and goes in the opposite direction. This makes the aiming of the rock to hit your foes very tricky and really compulsive trying to get it right. Choosing power ups at the right time also adds to the challenge. Your enemies can determine where your gorilla goes too – a stray bullet can get him moving to and fro at high speed.
This is where Gorilla Rampage can get a little frustrating at times as the one touch play restricts your control over the movement of the gorilla against some of the climbing rescuers. That though is the only slight flaw in an otherwise excellent update on an old fashioned adventure/arcade style game.
Ringtones-Direct marks out of 10 – 9/10.
Fancy a bit of Gorilla warfare? Download Gorilla Rampage from Ringtones-Direct today. You’d be bananas not to.
